The Obsidian Sync alternative
that costs a fraction

Your Obsidian vault on every device — end-to-end encrypted, nothing to set up, and payable by card or crypto. Free to start. Читать по-русски →

If you're comparing ways to sync Obsidian, you've probably found the same handful of options everyone does: the official Obsidian Sync ($4–8/mo), remotely-save (free, but you bring your own S3/Dropbox), Self-hosted LiveSync (free, but you run a CouchDB server), and peer-to-peer Syncthing (free, but no cloud and no real iOS app). Obsyncian is the managed, encrypted middle ground: as easy as official Sync, but cheaper — and it works even where cards from Visa/Mastercard don't.

Why people switch

03

Switching takes about two minutes

  1. Turn off your current sync (Obsidian Sync, remotely-save, or LiveSync).
  2. Install Syncian from Obsidian → Community plugins.
  3. Get a login code from the Telegram bot, set an encryption passphrase, and link your vault.
  4. The first sync uploads your existing notes. Open the vault on your other devices and they converge.

Your notes stay plain Markdown on disk the whole time, so there's no export, no import, and nothing to undo if you change your mind.

Start free — 50 MB, one vault, no card. Try it against your real vault before you pay for anything, then upgrade only if you need more space.

Questions

Is Obsyncian a good Obsidian Sync alternative?

Yes. It does the one thing you want from Obsidian Sync — your vault, on every device, kept in sync — for a fraction of the price, with end-to-end encryption on by default and nothing to set up. It installs as a community plugin, so it lives right inside Obsidian just like the official add-on.

How much cheaper is it than Obsidian Sync?

Obsidian Sync is $4–8 per month. Obsyncian starts free (50 MB), and paid plans are $4–8 per month billed annually but with roughly twice the storage per dollar — so for the same money you get more space, or the same space for much less.

Is my data actually encrypted?

Yes — end to end. With a passphrase set, both your note contents and their file names are encrypted with AES-256 on your device before anything is uploaded. Our servers and storage only ever hold ciphertext with random IDs, so no one at Obsyncian can read your notes.

Can I move over from Obsidian Sync or remotely-save?

Yes. Because Obsyncian keeps your notes as ordinary Markdown files on disk, there's nothing to export or convert. Turn off the old sync, install Obsyncian, link the vault, and it uploads your existing files as its first sync. You can even run both briefly while you check everything arrived.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes, on both. As with every Obsidian sync plugin, mobile syncs while the app is open — iOS and Android don't allow any plugin to run in the background.

Can I pay without a Visa or Mastercard?

Yes. You can pay by card, by USDT, or with other crypto through Telegram — which is why Obsyncian works for people in regions where Obsidian Sync can't be purchased at all.
